Erika Clippinger is a Central Florida based bassoonist, and is Teacher of Winds and Brass for the Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony (MAYS) located in Orlando, Florida.
Erika is finishing her thesis for her Master of Music Performance from the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University, conducting her research on Marcel Bitsch’s Concertino for Bassoon and Piano. During her time at Oklahoma City University, Erika held the bassoon assistantship position for the Parthenon Wind Quintet, OKCU’s premiere woodwind quintet, and performed in their wind philharmonic, symphony orchestra, pit orchestra, and flute choir.
Erika is a graduate of Stetson University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance in 2012. She received an Associate of Arts from the College of Central Florida in 2010.
Erika has studied bassoon with Ashley Heintzen, Nadine Grieve, and Anna Resnick Henson. She is a currently studying periodically with Gabriel Bergeron-Langlois. She has also studied flute with Sarah Satterfield and harp with Cameron Huster-Beck.
Erika currently lives in Ocala, Florida, with her fiance and two cats, Minerva and Theia. They will occasionally make appearances in her blogs as “The Noots.”
