So in the last few weeks, I’ve been to a double reed convention in Oxford, Ohio at Miami University. One of the cheapest drinks one can buy at the tiny coffee shop under the main building was simply called “Aloe.” It comes in several different flavors, strawberry, mango, kiwi, peach, apple, grape, and “natural.” It has tiny chunks of aloe swirling through the sweet, clear liquid, which have a consistency much like the inside of a grape. Having hooked my counterpart Isaac on the stuff, we went through probably 3 or 4 bottles a day.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m all about getting people hooked on strange things, but the one thing I don’t do is push people to try something if they really don’t want to. Unless you’re my boyfriend, Patrick, of course. It’s fair game with that kid. 🙂
Coming back to Ocala, I realized how much of this stuff I actually took in in the short week I was up there. And I missed the stuff! Patrick had mentioned seeing it in a supermarket in town, but I thought he meant the tiny 14 ounce bottles I had been buying for $3.75.
Lo and behold, the Bravo Supermarket had not only the little bottles, but also the GIANT 1.5L size bottles on sale, 2 for $5! Wait until my mother sees this stuff taking up half her fridge tomorrow.
